Ladder Safety

Ladders are an essential tool in many industries, however, falls from ladders are one of the leading causes of occupational fatalities and injuries. These injuries and fatalities can be prevented by utilizing safe work practices, choosing the correct ladder for the job and ensuring members are trained regarding ladder safety.

When working with ladders at OSU, members should use EHS’s ladder inspection checklist prior to beginning work each day to ensure the ladder is free of defects. Additionally, ladders should also be inspected after any falls or other occurrences that could damage the ladder.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding ladder safety, or would like to schedule ladder safety training, please contact EHS at 744-7241 or ohsp@okstate.edu
